The role of technology in the socialization process of an individual is always a matter of discussion. While a section of society opines that the latest devices and gadgets promote social interactions, others are with a contradictory view. Both these notions are discussed in the following paragraphs.

On the one hand, the newest technologies widen the ambit of communication and socialization. In other words, technologies shrink the world into the palm of mankind with gadgets like smartphones and allow easy transmission of ideas and thoughts. To make it more clear, modern devices open various avenues for interaction between individuals by superseding the major hindrances in communication like the distance between people with high-end computers and smartphones during the last decades. For instance, geographical boundaries in exchange of ideas and thoughts are toppled by social media platforms which enable us to connect with anyone in any part of the world at any time. Therefore, people engage in more conversations and communications rather than in the past as a result of improved technologies.

On the other hand, individuals are alienated from their surroundings and society by contemporary innovations as well as technological improvements in the field of communication. In other words, social media addiction generates introverted traits in personality. To illustrate it, due to the immense availability of communication floors on modern gadgets, people hesitate to spend time with people by being with them and they prefer to avoid face-to-face interactions by isolating themselves in their personal space. In addition, students and the younger generations are lured to spend most of their time on their devices by addictive and time-consuming games. For example, youth avoid their chances to participate in public programs as well as celebrations to find time for online gaming activities. Hence, technological improvements cause isolation.

The above discussion clearly points out that there are valid points on each side. But, considering the addictive tendency of newly equipped devices, progress in socialization seems to be minimal and illogical. Hence, it can be utilized as platform for sharing creative ideas and also as an easy communication measure so that there will be an attachment among people.
